Pittsburgh Pirates vs Chicago Cubs
Start Time: 2:20 PM EST
So why exactly are we going to Chicago as the Cubs host the Pittsburgh Pirates? Because it’s Paul Skenes’s day, that’s why! Which, strangely, haven’t been good days for the Pirates. Skenes is only 4-6 this season, and over his last seven starts, the team has gone 2-5 (the Pirates are only 6-8 in games their ace has started this season). There’s only so much a pitcher can do, I guess.
One thing this pitcher can do is strike out opposing batters. Skenes’s 92 K’s for the season are tied for 11th in the majors, so not surprisingly, I’m going in on a strikeout prop for him tomorrow. His over/under on K’s is set at 6.5, and we’re naturally taking the over. The 23-year-old has topped this total in five straight games and had six in both of the starts before that.
