The Toronto Blue Jays are starting to put things together this season, winning four straight games, including the first two games in this series against the Minnesota Twins, and they’ve boosted their record to 35-29. But they aren’t completing the sweep of the Twins at Target Field tomorrow afternoon.
Based on advanced stats and the value of home-field advantage, Minnesota is about 0.77 runs better than Toronto. And that’s before considering who tomorrow’s starting pitchers will be.
The Blue Jays send Bowden Francis to the bump, who was a sensation in the 13 games he started for Toronto last season, only to fall off a cliff this year, giving up a major-league worst 17 home runs thus far. Minnesota counters with Joe Ryan, who is having the best season of his career and will be given All-Star consideration later this summer.
The Twins avoid the embarrassing sweep at home and are my pick on the moneyline for Sunday.
