Offensive firepower was never what was holding the Edmonton Oilers back from winning the Stanley Cup – with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on your roster, scoring will not be your problem. It was always keeping the puck out of their own net that was limiting how far the Oilers could go in any given season.
That issue seems to have been solved by the man who wasn’t even starting in net for them earlier these playoffs, Stuart Skinner. Skinner has been outstanding, even posting three shutouts over a four game span during Edmonton’s run to the finals. For Game 2, I’m taking Skinner over 24.5 saves. He’s topped this number in four of his last five games, including 29 in Game 1.
