MMA Regional Pick of the Week: CFFC 143
CFFC Lightweight Fight: Angel Alvarez vs J.T. Schulte
Card Start Time: Friday (6/6), 7:00pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
This lightweight fight on CFFC 143 has a pretty straight forward dynamic. J.T. Schulte is a guy who has some halfway decent hands, but stuggles a bit with finding and establishing the range. In this fight, that should be even harder for him.
The reason for that is the speed and strength of Alvarez. In addition to being a sharp striker, those strikes clearly change gameplans of his opponents and make them think twice about entering a pocket with no set up. As a result, Alvarez should be landing early in this one.
Even if Schulte were to find his way to the inside, he’ll be met with more resistance than we see in the surface stats. While many see Alvarez as just a striker, he’s shown solid wrestling in the part – both offensively and defensively. I expect this fight to take place on the feet and that leads us to a clear winner here.
