MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – June 6

Baltimore Orioles vs. Athletics

First Pitch – 10:05 pm EST
Sutter Health Park – Sacramento, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV

To close out the week of NRFI plays, we have a couple of the late games. The first of which comes to us from our favorite minor major league park in Sacramento.

Kicking off the game will be the Orioles bats, who have been pretty awful this season. Despite being on a six-game win streak going into Thursday, the Orioles have only scored 21 runs in that span (or 3.5 per game). That’s actually below their season average of 3.83, which puts them in 25th place in the majors. I like JP Sears’ chance to keep them blank in the first inning. While he hasn’t been great this season, he looked pretty solid last time out against the Blue Jays – who are a nice corollary for this Baltimore squad.

The Althetics are also a below average team when it comes to putting up runs. They rank 19th in the majors in that category. Now they’ll face Dean Kramer who, similar to Sears, doesn’t have the best numbers on the year. With that being said, he’s been excellent in his last two starts. Against the Red Sox and the White Sox, he went a combined 11.1 innings, allowing one run and striking out 11.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 6: No (TBD)

Atlanta braves vs. San Francisco Gaints

First Pitch – 10:15 pm EST
Oracle Park – San Francisco, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV

The Braves will get their first hacks since blowing a tremendous lead in the 9th inning on Thursday. You have to imagine to start that there will be a hangover from such a letdown. Even if not, I still don’t like their chances of putting up an early run. They rank in the bottom third of the league in both run scoring and run scoring in the first inning. It won’t help matters that Hayden Birdsong is on the bump. He carries a 2.37 ERA into Friday’s action and has allowed one or fewer runs in three of his last five starts.

The Giants aren’t much better with the bats than the Braves. They also rank in the bottom third of the league in both of those metrics. To add to it, they’ve particularly bad in the first inning – ranking 26th in first inning runs per game. The future isn’t bright either for them as they get Spencer Schwellenbach in this one. In his last two starts (13.1 innings), he’s allowed just two earned runs and struck out 22 batters. The Giants lineup should be a breeze for him here.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 6: No (TBD)
