This week brings us our monthly UFC pay-per-view, with Saturday’s UFC 316 going down in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. We get two title fights at the top of the card, plus the debut of a former Bellator champion. For my MMA Prop Play of the Week: UFC 316, I’ve got a heavyweight prelim prop. Let’s get it on, c’mon!

MMA Prop Pick of the Week: UFC 316
UFC 316: Dvalishvili vs O’Malley 2
Start Time: 6:00 PM EST – (ESPN+/ESPN/PPV)
We have one heavyweight bout on Saturday’s fight card, with Moldovan Serghei Spivac facing Dominican Waldo Cortes-Acosta. And while Cortes-Acosta’s 6-1 record in the UFC looks impressive, it has been against the lowest level of competition the organization has to offer.
Spivac, on the other hand, has fought an elite level of heavyweights and beaten many of them. But, most importantly for this matchup on Saturday, he’s one of the best grapplers in the division. Cortes-Acosta has poor takedown defense and ground skills, and Spivac should be able to get him down easily. From there, the submission finish is well within his grasp – the odds of it happening are far greater than what the books have it pegged at.
