MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – June 2
Los Angeles Angels vs. Boston Red Sox
First Pitch – 7:10 pm EST
Fenway Park – Boston, MA
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Angels will get first crack at spoiling this NRFI at Fenway on Monday night. However, they’ll have to crack the riddle that is Richard Fitts. The Red Sox rookie started hot this year before falling victim to an injury. In his first start back, he looked back to his old ways – albeit on an inning restriction. In the 3.0 innings that he threw against the Brewers on last Tuesday, he fanned a pair and didn’t allow an earned run. They’ll try to stretch him out here for a full outing, but he’ll only need to get us those first three outs to get it done.
The bottom of the inning sees the Red Sox come to the plate. They’ve been pretty hot on the season, coming in above average in almost every meaningful offensive metric. However, they have looked a little slow as of late. Over their last five games, they’ve only put up 14 total runs. Now they’ll have to get to Tyler Anderson to change that narrative. He’s been solid on the season with a 3.39 ERA. Additionally, he’s coming off his best outing of the year. He held the Yankees to just one run over 6.0 in that game. If we see that version of him, he should clinch the NRFI for us easily.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 2: No (-110)
Minnesota Twins vs. Athletics
First Pitch – 10:05 pm EST
Sutter Health Park – Sacramento, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV
First on the bump in the nightcap is Luis Severino. He’s held his own for the Atheltics this year and has been even better lately. In his last three games, he’s given up only three total runs. That trend should continue as he faces this Twins lineup has not been able to get on the board early. They currently rank 20th in the majors when it comes to scoring in the first inning. As a result, I trust Severino to be able to record a quick three outs for us.
To close out our final NRFI, we’ll get to see a resurgent Joe Ryan. He has carried a 2.57 ERA over the course of this season and is striking out batters at an impressive rate. In 63.0 innings this year, he’s struck out 72 batters. He’s also been on a good run as of late – holding four of his last five opponents to just one run or less. With the Athletics being a below average team when it comes to scoring runs, I feel like Ryan gets it done for us.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 2: No (-110)
