SGPN Parlay for Saturday (May 31st): MLB Parlay

I am more than overdue to hit a parlay – this is starting to get ridiculous. With the NHL on hiatus until the Stanley Cup Finals start on Wednesday, I’m turning again to the diamond to make my fortune. For my SGPN Parlay for Saturday (May 31st): MLB Parlay, I’ve got a winning Same Game Parlay for some National League Central Division action. Let’s go get that money!

SGPN Parlay for Saturday (May 31st): MLB Parlay

Cincinnati Reds vs Chicago Cubs

Start Time: 2:20 PM EST

The first game of the day on Saturday pits the top team in the NL Central Division, the 35-22 Chicago Cubs, against the fourth-place Cincinnati Reds (29-29). While the Reds got the better of the Cubs in Game 1 of this series on Friday, I expect things to go back to normal tomorrow.

And normal would be a Chicago win. The Cubs are the second-best team in the majors based on advanced stats, which calculates them as 1.5 runs better than the average opponent (the Reds are only 0.3 runs better). Crunching all the numbers and taking the home-field advantage into account, the Cubs are 1.45 runs better than the Reds. Chicago on the moneyline is the first half of our winning parlay.

And we’re adding to it a seemingly counterintuitive play. I like Cincinnati’s starter, Nick Lodolo, to strike out at least five batters tomorrow. He’s topped this number in three of his last four starts, and the Cubs are a strikeout-prone team.

Best Bet Parlay: Chicago ML + Nick Lodolo Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+195)

Overall Record: 91-218 (29%)
Profit (based on $100/bet): -($2,669.00)
Return on Investment: -9%
