The Chicago Cubs are having themselves a season. Not only are they leading the National League’s Central Division with a 35-22 record, but they are the fourth-best team in the majors. The advanced stats like them even more, rating them as 1.5 runs better than the average team, behind only the New York Yankees’ 1.9 runs. If the Cubs keep this up (yes, it’s early), it’ll be their best season since their magical World Series win in 2016.
While they may not keep this pace over the full 162 games, I do think they’ll bank another W tomorrow at home. The Cincinnati Reds are having a solid year, but not in the same stratosphere as the Cubs. While the Reds got the win to kick off this series on Friday, things revert to the mean tomorrow, and the Cubs are at least a run better than their visitors.
