MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – May 11

TexAS rANGERS vs. dETROIT tIGERS

First Pitch – 1:40 pm EST
Comerica Park – Detroit, MI
Broadcast – MLB TV

The first NRFI that I’m in on today comes to us from Comerica Park. The Tigers will have to get it started for us as they look to keep a blank frame against the Rangers. It’ll be Reece Olson who’ll handle the duties in this one, and I can’t think of many better than him to get it done. He’s held three of his last four opponent’s scoreless. In that four game stretch, he’s put up a 1.14 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 23.2 innings. That should be enough to keep this Texas squad off the board as they rank 28th in runs scored across MLB.

The bottom of the inning sees another ace looking to help us cash. Nathan Eovaldi gets the ball for the Rangers. Coming into Sunday’s action, he has a 2.03 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 48.2 innings.  He has yet to allow more than three runs in a start and hasn’t allowed more than two in any of his last five starts. While the Tigers are definitely a better hitting team than Texas, I like Eovaldi’s chances of keeping just about anyone off the board right now.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 11: No (-140)

Miami Marlins vs. Chicago White Sox

First Pitch – 2:10 pm EST
Rate Field – Chicago, IL
Broadcast – MLB TV

The top of the first of this NRFI play should be a breeze. The Marlins are among the worst teams in the league when it comes to scoring in the first inning. Their 0.37 first inning runs per game have them in 27th place in the league. Additionally, they have a tall task in front of them with surprising starter Sean Burke. Burke had a bit of a rocky start to the season, but has been fantastic since. He’s allowed one or fewer runs to three of his last four opponents. That run contains plenty of teams that are hitting far better than the Marlins.

The bottom of the inning of this one is definitely our biggest sweat. Sandy Alcantara gets the ball and he’s been pretty bad on the year. He was shelled in back-to-back starts against the Dodgers. Luckily for him, he gets a much worse hitting team in this one. The White Sox rank 27th in the league in terms of runs scored. This game should help Alcanatara get back on track, or at least for our sake, keep a blank first.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 11: No (-135)
