The UFC octagon is on the road again this week, travelling from Kansas City, Missouri, to the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa, for this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs Figueiredo. It’ll be the promotion’s first foray into Iowa since 2000, and its maiden voyage to Des Moines. For my MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Des Moines, we’re headed to a main card bantamweight fight. Let’s get it on, c’mon!

UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs Figueiredo (AKA UFC Des Moines)
Main Card Start Time: 7:00 PM EST (ESPN2/ESPN+)
The 135-pound fight I’m referring to is between American Cameron Smotherman and Ukrainian-Canadian Serhiy Sidey. And ‘The Baby-Faced Killer’, Smotherman, is my pick.
Smotherman looked very good in his UFC debut, where he beat Jake Hadley on short notice. Both Smotherman and Sidey are early in their careers, but I like what I’ve seen from Smotherman more. He’ll be the better striker in this matchup and also has some solid grappling in his toolkit (as befitting his last name).
