Two more teams have their necks on the line tomorrow as the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs rolls on. If the Montreal Canadiens or the Tampa Bay Lightning lose on Wednesday, hockey season is over, and golf season begins for them. Montreal Canadiens vs Washington Capitals
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
After dropping Game 4 at home 5-2, the Montreal Canadiens will be fighting for their playoff lives tomorrow in Washington when they face the Capitals. And with apologies to my father-in-law, I think the Habs will be packing their bags for the summer after tomorrow night.
While hockey teams always keep player injuries close to their chest, especially in the playoffs, it appears that Montreal’s #1 goalie, Sam Montembeault, will be out of action again tomorrow. The same goes for one of their top defensemen, Alexandre Carrier.
Washington is a strong home team, while Montreal is one of the weakest road teams in the league. The Habs got a win this series, but I think that’s it for them. The much better team playing at home is usually the right play to make. Washington on the moneyline is my best bet for Wednesday.
