The champions of the Big South, the High Point Panthers, earned themselves a #13 seed and a date with the #4 Purdue Boilermakers from the Big Ten in the second game to tip off tomorrow. And I hate to be a small conference hater, but I’m going with the big boys in this one, the Boilermakers.
The Panthers are rolling, having won 14 straight games – over three months of undefeated play. But the strength of schedule difference between them and the Boilermakers is stark. High Point only faced one team better than the worst team in the Big Ten. And once you dive into all the advanced stats, including their KenPom rankings, it’s clear that Purdue is on another level.
After crunching all the advanced stats, I have this game lined up as Purdue -15.5, so there’s plenty of value on the Boilermakers end of the spread.
