Zach Freemantle Higher Than 8.5 Rebounds + Assists
Xavier draws Texas in an NCAA tournament play-in game tonight. The Texas Longhorns enter this match up allowing 34.9 rebounds per game this year. That’s 207th in the nation. Let’s ride with Xavier big man Zach Freemantle to fill up the stat sheet here.
Freemantle’s rebounds are in play, but the difference is 7.5 rebounds compared to 8.5 rebounds and assists. Freemantle comes into this game averaging 7.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He’s gone higher than 8.5 RA in six of his last eight games.
Texas doesn’t surrender a ton of assists, but Freemantle averages 2.1 per game, If he plays to his average for assists, he only needs to pick up seven boards to cash.
Texas has struggled to clean up the glass this year, and Freemantle is a tough match up for a team that’s a little soft on the inside. Freemantle should play close to 35 minutes as long as he stays out of foul trouble, and he should be able to pick up enough boards and assists against the Longhorns to get us in the green. Lock up Freemantle to go higher than 8.5 rebounds and assists in your Underdog Fantasy college basketball entry.
Elijah Stephens Lower Than 7.5 Rebounds + Assists
We’ve found ourselves a square number in the American vs. Mount St. Mary’s NCAA tournament play-in game.
Stephens comes into this game averaging 2.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this year. He’s gone lower than 7.5 RA in nine of his last 10 games. Those include conference tournament games in which he saw an increase in usage rate.
First, Stephens is only 5’9″. Mount St. Mary’s doesn’t have anyone on the roster shorter than 6’1″. Second, The Mount only allows opponents to average 33.3 rebounds and 12.9 assists per game this year. Those numbers are 98th and 149th in the nation respectively.
Mount St. Mary’s plays at a slow pace, and American plays at a VERY slow pace. Stephens will have limited possession to fill up his stat sheet. He’s also getting a tough match up against a team that shouldn’t give him many chances to rack up assists or rebounds. Given the trend, this is a no-brainer to take on a short slate. Let’s ride with Stephens to go lower than 7.5 rebounds and assists in our Underdog Fantasy college basketball entry.
Dallas Hobbs Higher Than 2.5 Turnovers
Let’s run it back with the man who has the same first name as a city! Mount St. Mary’s guard Dallas Hobbs comes into tonight averaging 2.8 turnovers per game.
Hobbs has gone higher than 2.5 turnovers in four of his last five games. He’s also racked up at least three turnovers in eight out of 13 games he’s played 30 or more minutes.
The American Eagles come into this game with a defense that generates 11.4 turnovers per game this year. That’s 213th in the nation. However, they’ve racked up 14, 13, and 12 turnovers in their conference tournament games.
Defenses tighten up in March, and we’ve seen Hobbs struggle with ball security. Given that this is another national TV game at an unfamiliar arena, it makes sense to ride with Hobbs to turn the ball over at least three times. Lock up Dallas Hobbs to go higher than 2.5 turnovers in your Underdog Fantasy college basketball entry for March 19th.
