While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. MMA Regional Pick of the Week: BKFC Fight Night: Albuquerque
BKFC Fight: Keith Richardson vs Bekhzod Usmonov
Card Start Time: Friday (2/28), 9:00pm EST (DAZN)
Both of these two fighters have transitioned from MMA to BKFC. However, that doesn’t mean that they were similar fighters before, nor are they now.
Richardson was always a fighter who mixed in the grappling well. 13 of his 22 career wins came by way of submission and some of the TKOs came via ground and pound as well. It’s a bit odd to see a fighter with that resume come over to just box. He has done fairly well since the transition though, thanks to some big power.
The unfortunate thing for Richardson, is he’s getting an opponent with an iron jaw. When on the Ultimate Fighter, Usmonov fought two weight classes up from his usual weight. In doing so, he took some huge shots, and earned the admiration of Dana White in the process.
I think the toughness of Usmonov combined with his speed should help carry him to a victory here as an underdog.
