Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts Preview and Predictions

The Jacksville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts meet for the second time this season here in Week 18. Both teams have now been eliminated from postseason contention, but beating a divisional rival is always on their minds. This one kicks off Sunday from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis at 1:00 p.m. ET on Fox. Let’s dive in and take a look at this Jaguars-Colts preview and predictions.

The 4-12 Jacksonville Jaguars will continue on with business as usual in Week 18. Mac Jones looks to remain the teams’ starter. The Jaguars injury report is a pretty light one. Darnell Savage has returned to practice after missing Week 17 while in the concussion protocol, he appears primed to make one final appearance in Week 18. The Jaguars did manage to beat the Colts in a 37-34 shootout in their Week 5 matchup.

The Colts stunning loss to the New York Giants in Week 17 took the wind out of their sails and eliminated them from playoff contention. Their Thursday injury report upgraded Michael Pittman, Josh Downs and Quientin Nelson all to full participants. Quarterback Anthony Richardson remained sidelined and did not practice, leaving it likely that Joe Flacco will make the Week 18 start for the Colts.

Game Total Over 43.5 Points (-115)

These two teams know how to put up a few points against each other. In their meeting back in Week 5 when the Jaguars won 37-34, the Jaguars themselves were just seven points shy of hitting this projected over. Their two games last year featured 57 and 52 total points scored.

They’ve gone well over this total in their last four matchups and seven of the last 10 times the two teams have played. Indianapolis is 5-1-1 over their last seven games this season to the over. The Jaguars are 7-5 to the over in their last 10 games.

Indianapolis Colts -4 (-125)

I will admit, betting on either of these teams at this point in time is a little scary. For me, this is a bet on Joe Flacco. While he made his mistakes last week with two interceptions, he still looked competent enough. This is his last chance to show off to teams that he can still be that bridge quarterback or backup quarterback they need going forward. At 9-7 ATS, Indianapolis is also the better team ATS on the season
