Miami Dolphins at Green Bay Packers Preview and Predictions

Miami Dolphins at Green Bay Packers Preview and Predictions

The Thanksgiving Day nightcap should be a good one! We’ve got Tua Tagovailoa and his Miami Dolphins traveling to historic Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Jordan Love and his Green Bay Packers will await them for an 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff on NBC. Let’s take a look at this Dolphins-Packers preview and predictions.

The Miami Dolphins at 5-6 sit just outside of the AFC playoff picture, just 1.5 games behind the 7-5 Denver Broncos for the last wild card spot. After a rough start to the season, they’ve rallied with three straight wins to keep themselves in contention. They’ll be missing Kendall Fuller, Tyus Bowser, and Anthony Walker Jr who were all ruled out on Wednesday.

Green Bay even at 8-3 sits third in the NFC North standings, but are currently in possession of a wild card spot. They’ve won six of their last seven games and last two in a row. Last week was a big win over the San Francisco 49ers with a final score of 38-10. The Packers will be missing Romeo Doubs, Jaire Alexander and Edgerrin Cooper who have all been ruled out of Thursday’s game.

Devon Achane Over 100 Rushing + Receiving Yards (+125)

In 2023 Devon Achane showed us flashes of what he was capable of doing as a rookie running back out of Texas A&M. After once again splitting time in the backfield with Raheem Mostert to open the 2024 season, Achane has taken over the role as the Dolphins’ lead back and workhorse.

In three of the Dolphins’ last five games, Achane has blown past the century mark when combining his rushing and receiving yards. The Packers’ defense has been prone to giving up big days to dual-threat running backs this season, including games crossing 100 yards from Aaron Jones, Joe Mixon, and Kyren Williams. David Montgomery and D’Andre Swift fell just short of the mark. Achane is simply just too explosive to not take a combined total, he could get most of it in one big play on the ground or through the air.

Green Bay Packers -3 (-115)

Green Bay has been the better team on the season, and while the Dolphins still hold some playoff hopes, the Packers know every game matters when you are this good, yet third in your division. Tua Tagovailoa is 0-7 in games below 40 degrees in his career. The Miami Dolphins franchise also isn’t good in cold-weather games. When it’s 23 degrees or colder, which this game figures to be, Miami is just 3-7 all-time. The Packers take advantage of the cold home field and celebrate Thanksgiving night with turkey legs and a little dolphin.
