Taking a quick look at the odds after the preseason and before Week 1, the Kansas City Chiefs were the favorites to three-peat at 5/1, to nobody’s surprise. San Francisco is the most notable team to slip down the board after opening as the second favorite to win it all in the preseason. Cincinnati has also tumbled after being 14/1 preseason. Washington, Minnesota 100/1, and Pittsburgh 50/1 have made marketable moves up the odds board with the success of their teams and new quarterbacks in 2024.

2025 Updated Super Bowl Odds and Best Bets
The Favorites:
This is the group that has remained the most unchanged from the start of the season, the biggest shifts are Cincinnati has fallen out and Buffalo’s odds have been cut in half. Kansas City still leads the pack as they remain undefeated and try to become the first team to three-peat. It’s just hard to justify betting them at such a low number right now.
The Lions have been arguably the hottest team in the NFL and are the clear favorites in the NFC at the time, they’ve never even been to a Super Bowl let alone won one, but can that change this season? Baltimore took KC to the wire in Week 1 and has looked the part through 10 weeks of play.
Buffalo has had its ups and downs, and its lack of offensive weapons remains a concern. Their path to the playoffs lays out very nicely as they currently hold a 4.5-game lead in the AFC East. Philadelphia has their offense firing on all cylinders and currently sits just one game behind the Lions for the #1 seed in the NFC. San Francisco’s Super Bowl hangover combined with a slew of injuries has them at just 5-4 and a game behind the Cardinals in the NFC West, but they know how to get to the big game in February.
Favorites Pick: Philadelphia Eagles +900
Of course, you could always make a case for Kansas City and Detroit seems to be the best team in the NFC and everything has gone well for them to start the season. However, at half the odds of the second-best team in the NFC, it’s a little harder to justify getting down on the Chiefs or Lions at their number currently. Philadelphia is just a season removed from a Super Bowl bid and they started last year 10-1 before the wheels fell off. With their experience getting there and going through what they did last season I think it could propel them back to the big game where they’d find themselves more prepared to win it all.

Mid-Tier:
Minnesota shot up the odds board after their hot start being the last team undefeated in the NFC. coming from a tough division, their road in the playoffs won’t be an easy one. For their divisional foes the Green Bay Packers, the road could be similar, but this is a young team that destroyed the Cowboys and almost beat the 49ers in last year’s playoffs.
Washington has been a great story of the outhouse to the upper floors. Are they ready to be in the penthouse just yet? I’m not sure about that. Pittsburgh is a team you can never count out, they’ve almost exceeded their win total already, and I’ll never bet against Mike Tomlin. Houston was last year’s big shock, but this season has been a bit disappointing. They don’t seem to have that “it” factor I’m looking for.
Jim Harbaugh doesn’t waste time turning programs around and he’s already done a fine job in Los Angeles with the Chargers. Don’t be surprised if they are contenders in the next year or two. The Arizona Cardinals have been a surprisingly good team, and currently lead the NFC West. They are a young team with some promise for the future. The Atlanta Falcons are an interesting case. With Kirk Cousin at quarterback and plenty of weapons, they are a threat to make the playoffs.
Mid-Tier Pick: Cincinnati Bengals
This is the team I’m most excited for in the mid-tier. They notoriously start slow, but they also tend to be Patrick Mahomes’s Kryptonite. They are currently out of the playoffs, but if they make it in, they are a team we know can beat any top-tier team any given week.

Long-Shots:
Most of the teams below the Falcons and Cardinals on the board are focused on the future and looking at the NFL Draft already. There are two teams worth at least mentioning from the long-shot range. The Los Angeles Rams started behind the eight ball with a lot of injuries. In a down NFC West though, they sit only two games behind the Cardinals. They’ll need some help to make it. But if they do with Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford leasing the way they could be a dangerous underdog.
Tampa Bay is the other team. Like the Rams they are only a few years removed from winning the Super Bowl, but of course that was with Tom Brady. They sit two games behind the Falcons in another weak division. If they can make the playoffs, could a crazy Baker Mayfield run be the next Nick Foles, Joe Flacco playoff story? Sure! If I’m betting a long shot it’s one of these two teams, but I don’t believe either is worth the bet.
