Jared Goff leads his high-flying Detroit Lions into NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas for Sunday Night Football. They’ll take on CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans in what should be a thrilling nightcap on a great day of Week 10 action. It’ll kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. Let’s dive in and take a look at the Lions-Texans preview and predictions.
Detroit comes into this game firing on all cylinders. The Lions have the #1 offense in the league in points-per-game, averaging 32.3 points. Winners of their last six in a row, sitting at 7-1 overall. The Lions injury report is pretty small, although Taylor Decker was added on Thursday with a new shoulder injury. The Lions also get Jameson Williams back after his two-game suspension.
The Houston Texans are losers of two of their last three games after starting the season 4-1. Their injuries are starting to pile up. Stefon Diggs is on IR for the season, and Will Anderson did not practice Thursday. Tunsil, Barnett, Horton, and Al-Shaair were all limited. Jeff Okuduh and Nico Collins are both eligible to return from IR, but it’s unclear if they will do so this week or not.

CJ Stroud Over 226.5 Passing Yards (-121)
There are a few reasons to like Stroud’s over in the passing department this week. The Lions’ pass defense has been atrocious this season, they rank 29th in the league allowing 250.8 yards per game through the air. Part of the reason for that is their offense is so explosive, the other teams can’t stop throwing just trying to keep up.
That’s exactly how I envision this game going as well. Stroud and the Texans will need to throw to try and keep this game close. Stroud isn’t a stranger to throwing the ball for a lot of yards, he’s crossed this mark in five of the Texans’ first nine games. He’s also done it in 17 of his 27 career games in the NFL.
Detroit Lions -3 (-140)
Getting the Detroit Lions at -3 might be the greatest gift the books give us this week. No team is better than the Lions at covering the spread this season at 7-1, their ATS record matching their football record.
This team is hitting on all cylinders this season and blowing through their competition. The Texans will throw for a lot of yards and do their best, but I just simply don’t think they can keep up. Give me Detroit -3 all day, and twice on Sunday night.
