The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will crown their champion on Friday evening at Phoenix Raceway. The green flag is scheduled for 6:18 p.m. ET on FS1. Like their counterparts in the Cup and Xfinity Series, the Trucks have narrowed the field down to four drivers who will compete for the championship title. The trucks at Martinsville delivered with just as much drama and controversy as the Cup and Xfinity Series did. Ultimately Christian Eckes won the race and punched his ticket to fight for a championship. Grant Enfinger, Corey Heim, and Ty Majeski all join Eckes and make up the championship four drivers. NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship Race Picks, Odds, and Best Bets: Phoenix Raceway
Grant Enfinger Top 5 (+125)
The Grant Enfinger disrespect continues! This championship four driver is once again being undervalued and underappreciated. Which is great for us bettors, we’ll take advantage of that. Enfinger has finished sixth in this very race each of the last two seasons, and in his last six races here at Phoenix Raceway he has four top six finishes. He’s either in the top five, or very close to it.
Enfinger has performed outstanding down the stretch run of the Craftsman Truck Series playoffs. He won twice in the round of 8 at both Talladega and again at Homestead-Miami. His win at Talladega back on October 4th punched his ticket to this race giving the team, and driver over a month to prepare to be in this race. Enfinger had a fast truck at Martinsville again last week but strategy just didn’t fall right for the team who started 33rd but had worked their way to the front.
Once things got settled in with his new CR7 team after coming over from the disbanded GMS Racing team last season, Grant found his place. He scored a second-place finish at the short-flat track of North Wilkesboro and followed it up with a third at Charlotte. Over the last 13 races on the season, Enfinger has two wins, six top threes, and ten top 10s. He’s performing at a high level, he’s prepared and he’s a veteran racer. I love his top-five number at this price and give me his outright at 12/1 as well.
Stewart Friesen Top 5 (+1100)
Another driver who is being slept on is Stewart Friesen. The driver of the #52 truck had a rough season overall, that definitely didn’t live up to his own standards. But as the season wound down, the team started to find some success. Friesen has finished top 10 in three of the last five events. He had a rough outing last year in this race finishing 24th. In his six previous starts though, Friesen doesn’t have a finish worse than sixth place, four of those top fives including a win in 2019. At this long-shot number, it’s worth a roll of the dice.
Christian Eckes to Win (+300)
Last season in this race, Christian Eckes was not one of the championship four drivers, but that didn’t stop him. At the time the 22-year-old driver from Middletown, New York took home the race win trophy. Now he comes back a year later, this time as one of the final four looking to take home the race win and pick up a championship with it. While it’s been a lot of Corey Heim in 2024 in the Craftsman Truck Series, Christian Eckes has made his presence known as well. Eckes claimed the regular season championship title and has led a lap in 21 of the 22 races the series has run so far.
He’s also had massive success on short tracks this season. He dominated at Martinsville last week leading 187 laps on his way to the win. Eckes led 144 laps at Bristol’s spring race, and 133 at Martinsville in the spring. He led every single lap of the race at Nashville. He has four wins on the season, three of them coming at short tracks. Eckes has finished inside of the top three in eight of the last 11 races in 2024. Heim will be great competition, but I believe Eckes will outshine him and steal the 2024 Craftsman Truck Series Championship.
