College Basketball Picks November 6
Our third-day slate has zero ranked on-ranked matchups. A bit unfortunate, but we are easing our way into the season. Otherwise, we have six top-25 teams playing games on November 6. Once again, some of the point spreads on these games are huge, but that’s what you get at the beginning of the season. Let’s get into the picks!
Creighton -31.5 vs. UT Rio Grande Valley
UT Rio Grande Valley. I cannot lie; this is the first time I have ever heard of UT Rio Grande Valley out of the Southland Conference. All I know is that they got smoked 87-67 by a weak Nebraska team. The Creighton Blue Jays are definitely a step up from the Cornhuskers. Creighton is built around their fifth-year senior, Ryan Kalkbrenner, and can shoot the lights out with veterans Mason Miller and Steven Ashworth.
Let’s not overthink too much here and roll with the much better team to cover this enormous number.
Rutgers -17.5 vs. Wagner
Yes. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights start the year ranked with the fourth-best recruiting class in the nation. Rutgers managed to sign two five-star recruits in, Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey, although Bailey will not suit up tonight as he’s dealing with a minor injury.
It will be interesting to see if Steve Pikiell will be able to switch up his typical slow-the-pace and clamp-down strategy with a run-and-gun point guard, Dylan Harper. By all accounts, Harper has completely changed the fabric of this team and will turn them into a contender this season.
I’m riding with the Knights covering the number here.
