Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – October 13
Kodai Senga – Lower than 2.5 Runs Allowed
While I do think it’s likely we some scoring in the early innings, I expect Senga to still come in under this projection. The big reason for that is I think they’ll have a short leash for him. In his lone start this postseason against the Phillies, he gave up a dinger on the third pitch of the game. After that he was mostly cruising through the lineup. However, they still pulled him after 2.0 innings and just 31 pitches. I think you’ll see a similar total here and that may not be enough time for the Dodgers to tally a big number.
Mark Veintos – Higher than 0.5 Total Bases
I was a bit surprised to see that Underdog had his projection set so low for game one of this series. In the NLDS, Vientos was one of the Mets very best hitters. He went a combined 9-for-16 (.563) in that series with four extra-base hits. Two of those hits were home runs. I wouldn’t mind using Underdog’s sliding projections here to turn this one into 1.5 total bases because I think he’ll exceed that as well.
Mookie Betts – Higher than 0.5 Home Runs
You’re going to get a huge multiplier for playing the home run projection here, and I’m here for that risk. Mookie Betts has been seeing the ball well lately. He has homers in two of his last three games. Additionally, he has a great, albeit short, history with Kodai Senga. They’ve faced each other three times and Betts has a hit in all three, with one of them being a home run.
