Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – October 9

Riley Greene – Lower than 6.0 Fantasy Points

While Riley Greene put up numbers he can be proud of during the regular season, the postseason hasn’t been kind to him. He’s hasn’t been able to beat this projection in any of his last three games. In fact, he’s only reached base three times over the course of those three games. Having never faced Alex Cobb likely isn’t going to help matters for him. Plus with this being a huge turning point in the series, the defense should be on point and runs will be at a premium.

Jose Quintana – Lower than 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed

The Phillies need all bats on deck to try to save this series and there series. While Quintana has never really been a name that strikes fear into peoples’ eyes, maybe he should be. Since the calendar turned to August, he’s had five starts. If you added up his lines for every single one of those starts, he still comes in under this projection. I think he should continue his hot streak here and keep the Phillies at bay early.

Clarke Schmidt – Higher than 14.5 Outs Recorded

The number on the projection might be a touch low because Schmidt only recorded 12 outs his last time out. However, it had been a long time since he last came up short of this number. In fact, it was April 6th when he last recored 14 or less outs in a game. With the Yankees getting just 3.2 innings out of their last starter, their bullpen could use a break. I think Schmidt will have a bit of a long leash and should record this many outs with ease.
