The Reds and Marlins cashed for an easy NRFI on Friday thanks to a pitchers’ duel. We’ll look to ride that momentum into the weekend. We have some NRFI bets for August 15.
Saturday’s games start at 1pm and carry on into the night. We dug through the whole gauntlet to find you the very best spots. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – August 15
Baltimore Orioles vs. Tampa Bay Rays
First Pitch – 6:10 pm EST
Tropicana Field – St. Petersburg, FL
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Orioles are first to the plate and aren’t a terrible team to fade at the moment when it comes to NRFI plays. They’re right around the league average when it comes to scoring runs, but they rank in the bottom third of the league when it comes to scoring in the first inning. Now they’ll have to deal with Ian Seymour, who has been extremely sharp for the Rays. He has four straight outings allowing two or less runs – posting a 1.99 ERA in that span. He’s also striking out 10.72 batters per nine innings in that run, which should make him hot enough to get us through the first.
In the bottom of the first, the Rays get the sticks. Despite leading the American League East for most of the year, they are little more than an average team at the plate. That’s music to the ears of Trevor Rogers, who has settled in nicely in his last two starts. He’s held both of his last two opponents to just two runs and is striking out 11.70 per nine innings in that recent sample. And that’s just a snippet of how good he’e been over the last two months. In that time, he’s held nine of his last ten opponents to two or less runs. The Rays should be no different for him here.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 15: No (TBD)
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Atlanta Braves
First Pitch – 7:15 pm EST
Truist Park – Atlanta, GA
Broadcast – MLB TV
We played this game on the NRFI on Friday unsuccessfully, but it was really due to some bad luck. Chris Sale gave up a first inning run on a Mauricio Dubon error, and then neither team scored again for another seven innings. That’s been the case for both of these offenses. The Braves have scored more than five runs just once over the last seven games. They’ve also sunk to 24th in the league in first inning scoring. The Diamondbacks aren’t much better, scoring just seven runs over their last three games.
In addition to fading these offenses, we’ll tail the pitchers. Grant Holmes has gone two straight starts without allowing a run (12.0 innings in total). He’s also only allowed eight total hits in that run. Eduardo Rodriguez is equally hot. His ERA has dropped to 2.70, which puts him in the top 10 of the majors. If either of these teams are going to break out of their slumps, it’s unlikely to be against these arms – especially in the first inning.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 15: No (TBD)
Bonus Pick: Brewers/Dodgers NRFI (TBD)
