MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – September 30
New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves
First Pitch – 1:10 pm EST
Truist Park – Atlanta, Georgia
Broadcast – MLB TV
The top of first the Mets will look to clinch a playoff spot as they face Spencer Schwellenbach. However, while they looked good at the plate on Sunday, they have never looked good against the Braves rookie righty. In two appearances against the Mets, Schwellenbach has logged 14.0 innings and struck out 15 batters. In addition, he’s earned the win in both starts and only allowed one earned run in those games. Getting three early outs in a must win game seems like an easy one here.
The Mets just officially announced their starter for game one and it’ll be Tylor Megill. He faced off against the Braves in a game a couple months ago and looked good early on. While he eventually took the loss, he kept them scoreless through the first three innings. In that time, he picked up three strikeouts and didn’t allow a base runner. With the Braves bats quiet for the most of the last three games, I imagine they’ll take a while to get going on Monday too.
