Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – September 20
George Kirby – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts
George Kirby is in line for a good day here on the road. While he only managed three strikeouts the last time he faced the Rangers, he also only allowed one base runner. I expect him to rebound to his usual levels of swing and miss in this one, especially since the Rangers have been striking out a lot lately. They fanned 10 times on Thursday and have averaged 9.67 strikeouts per game over their last three. Kirby should be able to take advantage of that.
Jacob deGrom – Lower than 6.5 Strikeouts
Sticking with the same game, I think Jacob deGrom is going to come in lower than this projection. While he looked good in his first game, and the Mariners strike out a lot, he still isn’t getting much of a leash. The Rangers limited him to 61 pitches in 3.2 innings last time out. He’ll have to be real busy or get a lot more work in to hit this number.
JT Ginn – Higher than 3.5 Strikeouts
Maybe a lesser known name, but I love this projection on JT Ginn. The Mississippi State product was a big strikeout guy in college and the minors. He’s been solid since getting some starts here as well. He’s gone higher than this projection in three of his four starts. The Yankees are also going down at an insanely high rate. They struck out 14 times last game and have averaged 12.33 over the last three games.
