Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – August 27
Gleyber Torres – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Gleyber Torres has been on a sneaky run as of late. He has cleared this projection in four of his last six games. Not only that, but he has dingers in back-to-back games as well. Sticking in that leadoff spot should give him plenty of pitches to hit, and he might not need many. He faces Patrick Corbin on Tuesday and he’s a career 4-for-9 (.444) against the Nationals lefty. Half of those hits left the park, which is plenty for me to get behind this number.
JD Martinez – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Martinez is another guy with a little history with the opposing pitcher on Tuesday. It’s a limited sample with just seven plate appearances, but the results speak for themselves. He’s 3-for-5 against Eduardo Rodriguez with a pair of walks and a pair of dingers. He’s seeing the ball well lately – with a couple of hits and a bomb on Sunday. I like that to keep going here.
Cody Bellinger – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Bellinger is a guy who just can’t seem to stop hitting doubles lately. After adding a couple on Monday, he’s up to five doubles in his last five games. That’s helped him to clear this projection in four of the last five. Not to beat a dead horse, but he too has had success with Tuesday’s starter. He gets rookie Jared Jones, who he’s 3-for-6 against with every single one of those hits going for extra bases.
