The Red Sox and the Royals gave us a real quiet start to their game to help us cash a Saturday NRFI. Now we’ll look to end the weekend right with a sweep of our picks. We have some NRFI bets for September 13.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – September 13
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs
First Pitch – 2:20 pm EST
Wrigley Field – Chicago, IL

Pittsburgh has been solid for the bulk of the year at the plate, which can make them a risky proposition when it comes to NRFI plays. However, they have struggled at the plate to close out this week. In their last four games they’ve managed just 11 total runs (or 2.75 runs per game). Additionally, they’ll face Matthew Boyd, who has had some good luck against them this year already. They faced back in July with Boyd tossing 7.0 innings and allowing just one run in a Pirates win.
The Cubs are another team that can slug a little bit. However, they too have fallen on harder times. They’ve scored more than four runs just twice in the last week. That will be a hard trend to break with Bubba Chandler on the bump. He has put up a 3.38 ERA over the last two months and looks really locked in. Plus, he’s been good in the first inning. In his last seven starts, he’s 5-2 at keeping that first inning clean. He should do so again here.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for September 13: No (-150)
Kansas City Royals vs. Boston Red Sox
First Pitch – 3:05 pm EST
Fenway Park – Boston, MA
Broadcast – MLB TV
This game gave us a hit on Saturday and I see no reason not to play again on Sunday. Kansas City is ice-cold at the plate, putting up just nine runs in their last three games. They rank in the bottom third of the league in scoring and should struggle to change that narrative with Payton Tolle toeing the rubber. He’s put up a 2.79 ERA since the beginning of August and is striking out 12.0 batters per nine innings.
In the bottom of the inning, we get another cold set of bats. Boston has put up just 17 runs over their last five games (3.40 per game). To make matters worse, their first inning woes have continued. They currently rank 28th in the majors in run production in the first inning. That’s music to the ears of Noah Cameron, who will get the nod on Sunday. He’s put up a 1.74 ERA in his last five starts, which includes three starts where he exited without allowing a run. He’s also allowed just three home runs over the last two months, which should keep our NRFI play safe.
