Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – July 14
Aaron Judge – Higher than 2.5 Total Bases
This number is a touch higher than we usually see out there in the projections, but it’s warranted for two reasons. The first is that Judge has a home run in each of his last two games. He’s heading into the All-Star break ripping the ball. The other part is that he has some good history against Sunday’s starter Dean Kramer. He’s 4-for-12 (.333) off him career and three of those four hits have left the ballpark. I expect him to go yard here as well, but if he doesn’t a double and single will get it done for us.
Nolan Arenado – Higher than 0.5 Total Bases
While the Judge line was a little higher than we’re used to, Arenado’s comes in on the cheap. I’m not sure why, as he’s hitting .275 this month and has four multi-hit games in his last seven games. Plus, like Judge, he has history with his Sunday foe. On his career, he’s 9-for-19 (.474) against the Cubs’ Jameson Taillon. Only one of those is an extra-base hit, but we only need a single to get things done this weekend.
Chris Sale – Lower than 5.0 Hits Allowed
Sale gets a Padres team on Sunday that hasn’t been all that hor offensively. In the last five games, tbey’ve scored just nine total runs. Now they’ll face the consensus Cy Young favorite, which has really been limiting those hits. He hasn’t allowed more than five hits in a game since June 1st. He did allow exactly five when he faced them in May, but he’s been even better as of late.
