Well, degens. We are officially moving onto Day 10 at the Copa America tournament. The last round of Group Stage matchups begins tonight at 8 PM EST. Argentina will square off against Peru, while Canada will take on Chile. Both games begin simultaneously to avoid any sort of collusion or unfair play. We here at The Quick Pick are long overdue for a banger and feel like tonight is the night. So, thank you for those of you who’ve been tailing this entire time. And now it is time to repay your kindness with a delicious two-pack snack. Here are today’s two best Copa America Underdog Fantasy Picks for June 29.
The Quick Pick: Daily Copa America Underdog Fantasy Plays – June 29
Gianluca Lapadula Higher Than 1.5 Shots Attempted
The Peruvians have fallen from grace within the South American soccer world. I remember not too long ago when this team was in the Copa America Final in 2019. On Saturday night, this team will require nothing short of a win. And probably a win by at least a couple of goals to make it out of Group A. Unfortunately for Peru, their opponent tonight is defending Copa America champion Argentina. But the Argentines will be “Messi-less,” so a shocker could be coming. Let’s take out our value-hunting glasses and take a closer look at Peruvian attacker Gianluca Lapadula.
The striker plays his club-level soccer on the top flight in Italy for Cagliari. This past season, he helped his team avoid relegation by a razor-thin margin of just one point. For our banger’s purpose, we’re looking for Lapadula to take a few shots. With his team in need of a win, one would think their striker could manage that task. Oh, by the way. Lapadula has attempted five total shots across his last two games. Against a watered-down Argentina squad, this should be as free as air. Let’s go ahead and take Gianluca Lapadula Higher Than 1.5 Shots Attempted
against Argentina.
Maxime Crepeau Higher Than 1.5 Goals Allowed (1.25X Odds)
The other game in Group A on Saturday night will see Canada take on Chile. The Canadians can ensure their place in the Knockout Round with a draw or win in this one. But, if their performance against Peru was any indication, that won’t be easy. Meanwhile, Chile will need to win to have even a chance at moving on. So, I expect the Chileans to press for large portions of the game and put pressure on the Canadian defense. For that reason, our value-hunting glasses have focused on Canadian goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau.
Man, oh, man. Watching the Canadian team’s performance against Peru was absolutely maddening. They were sloppy with the ball and gave up so many big chances. Of the 16 teams at Copa America, Canada is 9th in Goals Conceded Per Match with 1.0. They also average far less possession than the Chileans. Meanwhile, Chile looked formidable in the latter stages of their game against Argentina and will be peppering the goal tonight. It’s also quite possible that goal differential will determine who advances out of Group A. So, this play is about Chile having more possession, a stronger sense of urgency, and a particularly porous Canadian defense. We’re taking Canadian goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau to give up Higher Than 1.5 Goals against Chile.
