Texas Baseball Coaching Candidates – David Pierce Out Of Austin
The College Baseball Experience (@TCEonSGPN) on the Sports Gambling Podcast Network covers just the tip of the iceberg on David Pierce no longer being the head coach of the Longhorns baseball team. Noah Bieniek (@NoahB77_) offers his insight, analysis, and predictions on the rumored Texas Baseball Coaching Candidates. Why was David Pierce get canned? What took Texas so long to make it official? Find out on this episode!
Bieniek thinks that Pierce is a super solid coach. He didn’t meet the crazy high expectations at a program like Texas but if he lands on his feet he should still succeed. He describes why the decision from the Texas side of things stems from more than just on field performance.
Chris Del Conte has gone Big Game Hunting in every sport he has made a new hire for. Who would be considered “Big Game” for Texas Baseball?
Does CDC’s relationships help him trying to work out a deal with either of the top candidates? Would the Longhorns be able to snipe one of the two 2024 National Championship coaches? How interested is Jim Schlossnagle in leaving Texas A&M? After winning a Natty is Tony Vitello less likely or more likely to leave Tennessee?
Erik Bakich would be a super solid hire for CDC and shouldn’t be too hard to pull off. Bakich does love his relationships and coaching at Clemson right now, but everybody has a number. Another former Maryland Head Coach that is in the running is Rob Vaughn. He probably isn’t high on Texas’ list but this would not be a consolation prize, this would be a strong and relatively reasonable hire for Chris Del Conte.
Bieniek also introduces some possible candidates “for fun” on this episode of The College Baseball Experience.
