UFC Vegas 93: Taira vs Perez – Predictions & Best Bets

Melquizael Costa ML (-190) vs. Shayilan Nuerdanbieke

Despite the money coming in on Costa, I still think there’s a lot of value on the Brazilian featherweight. The reason here is two-fold. I really think he’s got a major striking advantage over Nuerdanbieke in terms of sharpness and pace. However, in addition to that, I also really like his cardio. It’s something that seems to always be there for the Chute Boxe guys, and it happens to be one of the weakness of Nuerdanbieke. As he fades in the fight, expect Costa to gain momentum and find a finish.

Garrett Armfield (-190) vs. Brady Hiestand

This is another fight, while chalky, that I think still has a lot of value. In the past, Hiestand has had issues with anyone who can scramble and wrestle with him. Armfield showed in his last fight that he can do just that. He scrambled with Brad Katona and even when he was taken down, he got right back up. Then he got to work with fast hands and good pressure. I think Hiestand will have similar issues getting him down and keeping him there.

Josefine Knutsson – Wins via Decision (-110)

I really like the ability for Knutsson to use her strength and work in the clinch to control this fight. Not that she doesn’t work well from distance, she was a professional kickboxer afterall, but that physicality seems like her best weapon. Even if she’s able to dominate this one, I don’t see that style bringing out a finish. She has only one win via finish in her seven fights, so paying the -180 moneyline on her seems like an insane move.

Douglas Silva de Andrade ML (+120) vs Miles Johns

Miles Johns has historically struggled against fighters who he doesn’t hold a wrestling advantage over. John Casteneda stuffed him and forced him to box – then put him away. I don’t think he’s going to have any kind of sustained success with his grappling against de Andrade. de Andrade handled the attempts from Said Nurmagomedov and Cody Stamann. More importantly, the ones he failed to stop, he jumped right back up for. Combining that with his better hands should lead him to an underdog victory for us.

Adam Fugitt – Wins via (T)KO (+400)

The last three wins that Fugitt has picked up have come via (T)KO. Josh Quinlan’s last loss, which was less than four months ago, was via (T)KO. That’s a nice recipe for a stoppage with strikes here and it comes at a great price. On a technical level, I also love that he has a reach advantage here and Quinlan has had issues with taller, longer fighters in the past. I wouldn’t be surprised is he gets it done on the feet or a TKO on the mat with ground and pound.

Carli Judice – Wins via (T)KO (+850)

Another big swing I like on the props is Carli Judice to get a KO. She’s only fought four times in her career – going 3-1 in that span. All three of the wins come via KO thanks to her kicks and incredible pace. Gabi Fernandes is definitely going to want this fight on the mat, but I’m not sure she’ll be able to close the distance on Judice. If she can’t, I cannot imagine her surviving three sounds with ‘Crispy’.
