MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – June 13

Atlanta Braves vs. Baltimore Orioles

First Pitch – 1:05 pm EST
Oriole Park at Camden Yards – Baltimore, Maryland
Broadcast – ESPN+

Once upon a time, the Atlanta Braves had a feared offense that couldn’t be stopped in the first inning. Now they’re one of the offenses I look for in NRFI situations. The injury to Ronald Acuna seems to have stifiled what was already a fading offense. Now they’re riding a five-game losing streak that has seen them score just 11 runs over that span. Cole Invin likely isn’t going to help that situation. Irvin has just a 2.89 ERA on the season and has only allowed four earned runs in his last three starts (16.2 innings).

While the Braves haven’t been scoring much, they haven’t been allowing much, either. The least of all in that category is Reynaldo Lopez. He has a 1.85 ERA on the season and has been one of the bright spots for this Atlanta team. Also, while Baltimore has been a solid offense, they’re averaging just 4.0 runs per game this series and were held to two earned by Spencer Schwellenbach (6.0 innings). Lopez should have no issues limiting them.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 13: No (-105)

Chicago White Sox vs. Seattle Mariners

First Pitch – 9:40 pm EST
T-Mobile Park – Seattle, Washington
Broadcast – MLB TV

While the Braves are one team I’ve been seeking out, the White Sox are one I’ll always be finding this season. They are one of the five worst teams in terms of first inning runs this year. They are also the very worst team in scoring in general – just 3.06 runs per game. In fact, they are over half a run worse than the Athletics.

Facing Luis Castillo will be no cakewalk for the Southsiders. While he did allow five earned last time out, that was the first time since April 8th that he had allowed more than two earned. Closing the door on the brutal top of the order for the White Sox shouldn’t be an issue for him.

On the other side, the Mariners have been solid at the plate. This NRFI play is much more about who they are facing rather than who they are. Garrett Crochier has been sensational this year. He’s allowed just five earned runs over his last six starts (35.0 innings). I’ve got plenty of faith that he’ll get us three early outs.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 13: No (-150)
