We had a brief break thanks to neither of the championship series going to a Game 7. However, now we’re ready for the beginning of the Fall Classic. We have some NRFI and YRFI picks for October 23.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – October 23rd
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Milwaukee Brewers
First Pitch – 8:00 pm EST
American Family Field – Milwaukee, WI
Broadcast – Fox
We’ll kick off the World Series with a play on the YRFI. A large portion of that is going to be due to the Brewers’ familiarity with Nick Martinez. Prior to playing for the Rays, Martinez spent two years in the National League including a year for the Reds in the NL Central. That has allowed a lot of the top of this order to see him already. Two names in particular have feasted off of him in the past. William Contreras has taken him yard twice and has a head-to-head OBP of .945. Just a notch behind him is Brice Turang, who has a dinger himself and an OBP of .857 against the righty. With those two both getting a crack at him, I like the chances of seeing an early run.
It’s hard to use the bottom of the inning as support of the YRFI with Jacob Misiorowski on the hill. With that being said, he hasn’t exactly been himself in the postseason. He has four walks in just 8.1 innings of work and has allowed three runs in those starts. Plus, Yandy Diaz has gone deep off of him in just three career at-bats, which could give us the boost we need.
