North Carolina: Shea Sprague JR LHP (3-1, 4.02 ERA, 55 K, 14 BB, 65 IP, 3.63 SIERA)
LSU’s Luke Holman has been one of the most dominant Game 2 starters in the country this season. There are solid reasons why the Tigers are a dog in this matchup: the Tar Heels are 33-2 at home this season, and a big part of that is their powerful offense.
However, Holman has an ERA of 1.48 in his last three starts. He is in great form and has a great chance to hold the Tar Heels down. In a polar opposite, Sprague hasn’t been pitching solid lately (6.16 ERA in his last three starts). With LSU’s 121 wRC+ over their last 10 games they shouldn’t be plus-money in this matchup.
Whether it’s the big MLB Draft prospect Tommy “Tanks” White or the little Freshman Steven “Monster” Milam, LSU has been raking lately. The Tigers are averaging 8.43 runs per game over their last nine tilts. During that span, Milam has a .448 batting average with 8 runs scored and four of his eight home runs this season. There is a new mojo in the Bayou and it’s not just Milam’s purple-dyed-tiger-striped hairstyle.
