Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – April 25
Nestor Cortes – Higher than 38.5 Fantasy Points
With the Underdog Fantasy scoring system, a quality start might be enough to make this look easy. He would get 5.0 points for a win, 5.0 for the quality start and then 3.0 for each inning pitched. So if he gets through 7.0 innings like he did last start, he’d only a few strikeouts. Being that he’s facing a brutally bad Athletics lineup and had 9 strikeouts last start, he should be a lock here.
Mitch Haniger – Higher than 0.5 Runs
Haniger is one of the plays I like based on the pitching matchup today. He’s faced Andrew Heaney in 22 at-bats in his career. In that span, he has a .364 batting average and a .909 slugging percentage with three home runs. While I’d rather get a total bases projection, they don’t have one. This run projection should be manageable enough for him to tackle.
Shohei Ohtani – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Over the last three games, Ohtani has made this projection look like child’s play. The closest he’s come to this mark in that span was when he only had 4 total bases two games ago. The other games saw him have 5 and 6 respectively. With 15 total bases in the last three games, he seems like a cinch for 2 today.
