Auburn: Auburn Dylan Watts SO RHP (0-0, 5.94 ERA, 19 K, 2 BB, 16.2 IP)
Mississippi State: Khal Stephen JR RHP (5-2, 2.84 ERA, 56 K, 12 BB, 50.2 IP, 2.71 SIERA)
Mississippi State is returning home after a tough road series loss to their rivals, Ole Miss. The Bulldogs are 18-4 at Dudy Noble Field this season. There’s nothing better that the doctor could have ordered than an Auburn team currently in last place in the SEC.
With Watts only having 16.2 innings under his wing, I expect a quick leash. After Watts, Auburn’s arm barn is bare. The Tigers currently have a 6.62 Weekend Bullpen ERA. That is just not a winning recipe when visiting one of the rowdiest college baseball home environments in the country with a certified stud opposing you on the mound.

Duke: Jonathan Santucci JR LHP (5-0, 2.86 ERA, 71 K, 30 BB, 44 IP, 2.70 SIERA)
Virginia Tech: Jeremy Neff Grad RHP (0-0, 11 ER, 9 K, 10 BB, 13.1 IP, 5.44 SIERA)
The Hokies played a very favorable schedule to begin ACC play. Their recent performances have showed signs of fraudulence. Additionally, Virginia Tech is trotting out Neff, who has more walks than strikeouts, to start Game 1 against perhaps the ACC’s best team. Behind the Grad Senior isn’t much better. Virginia Tech owns a 5.75 weekend bullpen ERA and that unit will have to face a Duke lineup that features four hitters with an OPS over 1.000.
Opposing Neff will be the 2nd best 2024 MLB Draft LHP prospect. Santucci gives the Blue Devils a chance to win in every one of his outings.
