NBA First FG Props – April 19
Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Kaseya Center – Miami, Florida
Broadcast – ESPN
The advantages that the Heat have on the early game stats aren’t easy to overlook here. They have a 10.8% advantage in terms of first field goal success rate. Additionally, they’re going to have a massive advantage on the tipoff. Not only is Nikola Vucevic one of the worst tips guys in the league (33.3%), but Bam Adebayo has been solid (68.5%). Winning the jump twice is often is significant being that the team that won the tip in the regular season scored first in 64.6% of game. They also did do in three of the first four play-in games.
The Heat came out of the gate looking for the deep ball against the 76ers. I think they’ll keep that approach here. If they do, I would typically look no further than Playoff Jimmy. It is his former team and he did get two first field goals against them during the year. However, it seems that the knee injury should keep him out of this one. If that’s the case, I’m going to my next outside shooter – Tyler Herro.
First FG Bet for April 19: Tyler Herro (TBD)
Sacramento Kings vs. New Orleans Pelicans
Tipoff – 9:30 pm EST
Smoothie King Center – New Orleans, Lousinana
Broadcast – TNT
I mentioned earlier that Nikola Vucevic was one of the worst tip guys in the league – winning just a third of his tip chances. Domantas Sabonis was even worse. He won just 27.7% of his and was second worse in the NBA amongst jump guys with at least 41 tips. While their first bucket success rate is pretty close, with a slight edge to the Pelicans, you have to ride with New Orleans here to get it done.
The Pelicans scored first with Zion Williamson in their first play-in game. However, he’ll be out for Friday’s game. Plus, that wasn’t the trend for the end of the season. In fact, Jonas Valanciunas scored the last three first buckets for the Pelicans on the season. He also scored five of the last six first buckets for them. If you needed more incentive to get on Valanciunas, he scored two of the first field goals against the Kings in the regular season.
First FG Bet for April 19: Jonas Valanciunas (TBD)
