Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – April 5
Brandon Nimmo – Higher than 0.5 Total Bases
Nimmo may not be off to a hot start. In fact, he is only hitting .048 on the season and the Mets offense has been similarly anemic. However, in the past, he’s had tons of success off of Hunter Greene. He has nine at bats against the Reds’ flame-thrower in his career and has eight total bases in that span. Maybe this is exactly what he needs to break out of his season-long slump.
Tarik Skubal – Higher than 18.5 Pitching Outs
Skubal had one of the best second halves of any pitcher in the MLB last year. He kicked off the new season in similar fashion with six scoreless against the lowly White Sox. The Athletics might have the only lineup that is worse looking than Chicago’s. If that’s the case, I like Skubal’s chances to pitch into the 7th inning.
Jared Jones – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts
Jones is a rookie that I’ve been high on for some time. His profile clearly shows big strikeout stuff and he dominated in the minors. He kicked off this season by striking out ten Marlins over 5.2 innings pitched. The Orioles are much harder to strikeout, but they whiffed on nine last game. His stuff should carry him to six or better here.
