Look no further than the Big East tournament if you are seeking dramatics. There will be teams with bad records thriving off of new life, and individuals will take teams to new heights like Kemba Walker, Gerry McNamara, and Da’Sean Butler have in years past. You may not want the tournament to end, and sometimes it doesn’t, although there’s no promise of another 6OT game. The only certainty is uncertainty. Let’s take a look at the Big East Tournament Preview, Best Bets, and Picks.
Nearly every game in this tournament will impact a bubble or seeding for the Big Dance. Can UConn continue their reign? Remember, they didn’t win the Big East tournament last year.
That honor belongs to the Golden Eagles. St. John’s is hot and squarely on the bubble. Villanova and Providence will need to do some convincing, while Seton Hall isn’t quite off the hook yet.

The Favorite: UConn -165
The favorite is a surprise to no one here, and the price doesn’t shock us. The Huskies are regular season champions and defending national champions. They are familiar with all teams in this conference, and the moment is not too big for the returning players from last year. The goal is to win the whole thing.
UConn wouldn’t see Creighton or Marquette until the championship game. The Huskies set a record with 18 conference wins and are creeping up on 30 for the season. This tournament may seem like a formality in the eyes of the viewers for UConn, but Hurley is not programmed that way. He will have his team ready.
Best Bet: St. John’s +1200
The Red Storm have won 5 in a row and play the tournament in their second home at MSG. We leapfrogged the defending tournament champion Golden Eagles due to the uncertainty of Tyler Kolek’s status for this tournament, with nothing to gain for Marquette.
Rick Pitino called out his team, subsequently got a large amount from donors, and now going on a run to make the tournament would be an absolute script-worthy scenario.
Longshot: Seton Hall +4000
Seton Hall is already responsible for one of UConn’s three losses. They would be on a collision course with the Huskies. We’ve overloaded on the top half of the bracket, betting against the likelihood of Creighton and Marquette taking home the hardware. Seton Hall would have to knock off the two teams above them on this write-up to get to the championship.
They’ve already done that. They’ve also won against both Creighton and Marquette in the regular season. Everyone wants to ignore that they swept the Red Storm and acknowledge how hard it is to beat a team twice, but Shaheen Holloway’s Pirates don’t mind being overlooked. It’s a short way to MSG from campus, and they should have a ton of support behind a top-tier defense.
