NFL Playoff Conference Championship Trends, Picks, and Predictions (53-30 Record)

Kansas City Chiefs @ Baltimore Ravens (-3.5)

While the Ravens cruised to an easy victory, the Chiefs battled their way past Buffalo. Now they’ll meet for the first time since 2021. The Ravens came out ahead by one point in that game. Can they do it again and return to the Super Bowl?

Lamar is looking to win his first. Mahomes is looking to add a third and truly be considered a dynasty. Which team do the NFL playoff conference championship trends say we should follow?

This is the hardest game I’ve picked all year, looking at the trends. The trends favor both teams. Kansas City is 13-2 against the spread (ATS) as a road underdog. They’re 17-7-1 ATS on the road when revenging a loss. The Chiefs are also 13-2 ATS when facing top-five defenses.

The Ravens have had an excellent year, which landed them the number one seed. They are 12-3 ATS versus opponents on a winning streak of four or more games.

They’re also 8-2 ATS against teams with a winning record. The Ravens are 4-1 ATS at home when a favorite of seven or fewer points.

Will the Mahomes magic continue? Will he and Andy Reid advance and continue talks of the dynasty? Or will it all unravel in Baltimore? Will Lamar and the stout Ravens’ defense advance to put a cap on his MVP season and play for his first Super Bowl?

NFL Conference Championship Playoff Prediction based on Trends:  Ravens Win by 3, so Chiefs (+3.5) Cover. I also like the Under (44.5).

Detroit Lions @ San Francisco 49ers (-6.5)

The Lions stopped a fourth-quarter rally from the Bucs and held their lead. The 49ers survived a scare against the Packers. Now both teams will meet in the NFC Championship game.

Will the Lions get a shot at their first Super Bowl? Or will the 49ers get back after injuries derailed them last year? Which team do the NFL playoff conference championship trends say will make the Super Bowl?

The last time these two met, the 49ers won. However, that was in 2021. Before Mr. Irrelevant. That was before CMC. Before Dan Campbell. Before Gibbs, Monty, Amon-Ra, and Goff. You get the point. These are vastly different teams.

The 49ers are 11-4 ATS in January. They’ll look to ride that trend all the way to the Super Bowl. The 49ers are also 7-3 ATS against opponents that just played Tampa Bay and 11-4 at home against an opponent that is coming off a conference win.  The Niners are 11-4 ATS against the rest of the NFC and 5-2 ATS at home in playoff games.

The Lions aren’t slouches on the field, either. They’re 8-1-1 ATS as underdogs. They’re 10-0 ATS against high-scoring teams and 7-0 ATS on the road when the total is 45 or more.

This team has played well with Campbell as their coach, and they are 8-2 ATS in the last ten games on the road. They have also fared well against the NFC, where they are 8-2 ATS on the road in the last ten.

Which team will bend, and which team will break? The way I see it playing out, the 49ers bend, but the Lions break.

NFL Conference Championship Playoff Prediction based on Trends: 49ers win, but Lions (+6.5) cover and take the over (50.5)
