NBA First FG Props – January 22
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Detroit Pistons
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Little Caesars Arena – Detroit, Michigan
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
This is the second half of a home-and-home from Saturday. The results from the first game played just as if the stats might suggest. Brook has a slight tip advantage on Jalen Duren and won the tip. The Pistons though, who have a 14.3% lead in first buckets, managed the first bucket.
There’s even more reason to like the Pistons’ side in the second game. Firstly, the numbers on Duren and Lopez on tips are so close, it’d be surprising to see the same one win twice. Additionally, there’s a slight lean in the data to those taking the tip at home – which would be Duren for this one. Plus, regardless as to who wins the tip, the Bucks have been bad on the first field goal anyways thanks to throwing up three-pointers from anywhere.
The last two firstr buckets for the Pistons, including against the Bucks, have been Bojan Bogdanovic. However, Jalen Duren has been getting the most consistent inside looks for the squad. The high percentage shot here is the one I want, so let’s ride the sophomore.
First FG Bet for January 22: Jalen Duren (TBD)
Atlanta Hawks vs. Sacramento Kings
Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
Golden 1 Center – Sacramento, California
Broadcast – NBA TV
Domantas Sabonis continues to be one of the worst centers in the league when it comes to the jumpball. He’s getting just 29.3% of all tips. However, it hasn’t mattered one bit for the Kings on the early game. They’re still sixth in the league in first buckets. The Hawks are not terribly far behind, but I’m going to ride with the team whose defense keeps getting it done in the Kings.
Two people have showed up in the first three shots log for the Kings in the last two games – Sabonis and Keegan Murray. The Hawks last two losses on the first bucket have both come to big men and on inside shots. Both of these guys are big men, but Sabonis plays the more classic version of the role I’m describing. Let’s get him a first field goal here.
First FG Bet for January 22: Domantas Sabonis (TBD)
