Fantasy Hockey Schedule Week 15: Waiver Wire Pickups & Adds (Jan. 15 – 21)

Fantasy Hockey Schedule Week 15: Waiver Wire Pickups & Adds (Jan. 15 - 21)

Welcome back to the weekly Fantasy Hockey waiver wire article. We’ll be taking a look at the teams with the most favorable fantasy hockey schedules and the fantasy hockey waiver wire. Below are a few players that should be available on waivers for each squad.

The NHL is back to an unusual slate this week with Martin Luther King Jr. Day meaning a lot of Monday hockey. Half the league (or more) is in action on Monday (10 games), Tuesday (8), Thursday (10), and Saturday (12). That leaves Wednesday (3), Friday (4), and Sunday (6) as the three lighter nights we’ll be targeting this week.

Optimizing your lineup is crucial in any fantasy sports league, and fantasy hockey is no different. Given the NHL’s unbalanced scheduling, there are certain teams that have better schedules on certain weeks throughout the year.

Fantasy Hockey Schedule Week 15: Waiver Wire Pickups & Adds

The Detroit Red Wings play on all three lighter nights this week, with the Florida Panthers joining them on Wednesday and Friday, along with a Monday matinee.

Detroit Red Wings

  • Wednesday @ FLA
  • Friday @ CAR
  • Sunday vs. TBL

David Perron (LW, RW – 44% Rostered)

Veteran forward David Perron is on pace for one of his worst seasons in a while, with 19 points in 37, but that pace has picked up as of late. He has six points in his last seven games, including an assist in two straight.

Perron is currently playing on the top line with Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond, as well as the top power play unit.

Daniel Sprong (RW – 13% Rostered)

Daniel Sprong may be a better option than Perron for this week, even with his rostered rate.

The fourth-line winger has moved up and down the lineup this season while racking up 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) in 43 games. He has nine points in his last 11 games, including six points in his last six contests.

Give Sprong a look to add a spring in your step this week.

Florida Panthers

  • Monday @ ANA
  • Wednesday vs. DET
  • Friday vs. MIN

Evan Rodrigues (C, LW, RW – 40% Rostered)

Look, the Panthers have seven players rostered in 70%+ of leagues, so it may seem like a bit of a reach for Evan Rodrigues here. However, E-Rod has the position versatility and the opportunity to have a good week.

Rodrigues plays on the top line with Aleksander Barkov and the red-hot Sam Reinhart. He’s also on the second power-play unit.

The veteran forward had five points in six games out of the break but has been held off the scoresheet in three straight. That should change this week, given the Panthers’ cushy schedule, though.

Sam Bennett (C – 18% Rostered)

Second-line center Sam Bennett is the other member of the Panthers’ top six that’s widely available. He is flanked by Carter Verhaghe and the also red-hot Matthew Tkachuk.

The former Flame only has 15 points in 30 games this season, but he’s been heating up with five points in his last seven games. Hopefully, he can catch fire this week.
