Enough of the MACtion. We have a top-25 team in action tonight. A resurrected Virginia Team heads up to Kentucky to take on Louisville while we get a middling Sun Belt contest down in Louisiana. Thursday Night Football time.
Week 11 Thursday Night College Football Picks
Virginia at Louisville (-20) (O/U 50.5)
Virginia comes in at 2-7 but has truly looked a lot better since earlier in the year. Transfer QB Tony Muskett went down, and it took him a few weeks to rebound. Since his comeback, the Cavaliers have knocked off North Carolina on the road and took Miami to overtime on the road. There was hype around them last week, hosting Georgia Tech, but they looked ugly, losing 45-17.
Louisville is a very talented bunch. They continue to prove people wrong and have a slim chance to get into a really nice bowl game. 8-1 with a win over Notre Dame, Duke, and an SEC team on the docket is surely a nice case.
The place should be rocking, and Louisville will win the game, but will they cover the number? With Miami, Kentucky, and an ACC Championship game on the line, I would not be shocked for the Cards to come out flat here. A major look-ahead spot for them. Let’s take the improved Cavaliers team with the points.
The Pick: Virginia +20
Southern Miss at Louisiana -10 (O/U 52.5)
Southern Miss, one of the least “Fun” Belt teams, heads west to take on Louisiana. Since Napier Left, this UL team had really lost a step but still finds itself a win away from bowl eligibility. They have been really competitive in conference this season. Beating Texas State and Georgia Southern was impressive, as well as almost taking down Georgia State, who are three of the conference’s better teams. Losing by 20 to Arkansas State last week was a bit of a shocker, but I love this game as a bounce-back spot.
Southern Miss has been an absolute mess this season, but they got their first conference win last week. That is a perfect recipe for a favorite to cover. Louisiana comes in looking to bounce back after an ugly loss, and Southern Miss is riding high after an unexpected win. Lay the points, and take the Cajuns.
The Pick: Louisiana -10
