Week 9 Tuesday Night College Football Picks

We love TNF. No, no, not Thursday Night Football. Tuesday Night College Football is a new trend, and we love every second of it. We have a nice little two-game slate here, which includes the game of the year in Conference USA. Last week, we went 3-2 over three days of picks, which is winning money in my book. Let’s get better this week and start it off with a sweep!

Week 9 Tuesday Night College Football Picks

New Mexico State at Louisiana Tech (-2.5) (O/U 52)

5-3 heads to 3-5, and yet the team with the worse record is favored. This is a trend we see a lot in this conference, and we will again tomorrow. LA Tech has been all over the place this season. They have been through multiple quarterbacks and are yet to really find their groove. From looking awful against Florida International to hanging in there with Nebraska, you never really know what you are going to get from the Bulldogs.

New Mexico State is a program that has grown over the last year and a half. Coach Jerry Kill was a great hire for the Aggies. He has the boys one win away from back-to-back bowl eligible seasons. This team is led by their offense and Quarterback Diego Pavia. He leads the team in both passing and rushing.

New Mexico State will push the pace heavily, and LA Tech has the makings to match. As I stated earlier, they are a team that plays multiple ways. They are not always good, but they do different things in every game. The Bulldogs have the makings to play in a shootout, and I think we can see that here. 52 is a very fair number for these two teams, but I believe this game goes over the total.

The Pick: Over 52

Liberty (-5) at Western Kentucky (O/U 61.5)

WKU hosts Liberty on Tuesday night, which will be the game of the season in the C-USA. The Hilltoppers blew a double-digit second-half lead last week to lose our -7 play and the game! Liberty comes in 7-0 in their inaugural season in the conference and will now face their toughest test. Looking at Liberty’s seven wins, they have not faced a team that is rated higher than 95th out of 133 in the NCAA College Football Predictive Rankings & Ratings. And those wins have not been blowouts, either. Liberty has been playing with their food and figuring it out late in games.

This will not fly against Austin Reed and the firey WKU offense. Although they blew the lead to Jacksonville State last week, I am chalking that up to a look ahead to this matchup. The Hilltoppers were in prime control and took their foot off the gas a tad too early; time to rebound this week.

The Pick: Western Kentucky +5
