Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – October 8
Marcus Semien – Lower than 7.5 Fantasy Points
Marcus Semien had the big Ofer hung on him in Game 1 of this series, and I’m not expecting him to do much in Game 2 either. He’s only topped 7.5 fantasy points once in his three playoff games this season, plus he has not hit Baltimore’s Game 2 starter, Kyle Bradish, very well over the course of his career. His slash against Bradish is .143/.143/.286 in seven plate appearances.
Josh Jung – Higher than 5.5 Fantasy Points
However, if Semien has a poor showing again in Game 2, the Rangers aren’t out of luck, because I think Josh Jung will continue his hot play. He’s gone for 26 and 12 fantasy points in his last two games, including a home run in Game 1. Plus, his career slash against Bradish is much better than Semien’s – .667/.750/.667 in four plate appearances.
Framber Valdez – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts
Even if Houston manager Dusty Baker is quick with the hook tomorrow, I think Framber Valdez can get past the 4.5 strikeouts bar. He’s topped this amount in four straight games, and seven of his last eight. That includes his last start, which was only four innings long yet he fanned seven Mariners. Houston fans get the K signs ready to hang tomorrow.
