Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – September 6
Bryan Reynolds – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
Reynolds is in the middle of a seven-game hit streak at the moment. He’s also added either a run or an RBI in each of his last five games. He’s also started to sprinkle the odd stolen base in here or there as well. On top of all of that, I really like the pitching match-up he’s getting on Wednesday. He’s 10-for-22 career against Freddy Peralta and three of those ten hits have been for extra bases. That’s good for a .455 batting average and a .727 slugging percentage. Pencil him in for some action.
Zach Davies – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts
Two days ago, I rode the pitching of Merrill Kelly as he faced off with the lowly Rockies. The Rockies are 28th in the MLB in team strikeouts at 9.49 per game and they’ve actually been a touch worse as of late. With that assignment, Merrill Kelly went for 12 Ks over 7 innings, easily clearing the 7.5 projection.
Davies has been in and out this season with injuries. He missed a bunch of early time and then some time again in July. But if you take his last five starts, he’s had five or more in four of those starts. He’s had six in three of them. Against one of the easiest teams to strike out, he should have no problems.
Spencer Steer – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
Steer has gone over this mark in six of his last eight games. He threw up a dud last night and I don’t expect him to do so twice in a row. Before that he had totaled five and four HRR in the two games prior, respectively. Logan Gilbert isn’t the type of person you think of as an easy matchup, but he has been hittable lately. He’s given up 7+ hits in three of his last four games.
