Clayton Kershaw is ROLLING. He’s allowed one or less runs in six straight starts and seven of his last eight. Over that eight-game stretch, his ERA is a minuscule 1.26. Vintage Kershaw, indeed. On Tuesday, he’s up against the anemic offense of the Miami Marlins, who have scored the fifth-least runs in the majors this year. Let’s ride with ‘The Claw’ today.
Julio Rodriguez – Seattle – Higher than 2.0 Total Bases
This exact pick was the only play that didn’t come through for me a couple of days ago. But I’m going back to the Julio Rodriguez well once again. He’s raking at an extremely high rate and regularly tops two total bases in a game (just not when I pick him to, apparently). He’s going up against the Reds’ Connor Phillips on Tuesday, who is making his major league debut. Fool me once, shame on Julio. Fool me twice…
Luis Urias – Boston – Lower than 0.5 Total Bases
Boston’s Luis Urias is having a miserable season, batting .180. He’s had four straight games with 0 total bases. I’m counting on it being five straight. Tampa Bay starter Zach Eflin has been cruising along, with three straight solid starts and five in his last six times on the bump. Look for Urias to get shut out on Tuesday.
