Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – August 24
Bryan Reynolds – Higher than 7.5 Fantasy Points
In his last eight games, Reynolds has recorded ten hits – three of which went for extra bases. However, a single alone obviously won’t help him go higher than this projection. Maybe it’s a little bold to assume he’s going to go for more than that against Justin Steele, but he has taken Steele deep before, as well as walked (in only eight plate appearances). I’ll roll the dice that he can get a bit more with his .714 head-to-head slugging percentage.
Ken Waldichuk – Higher than 5.0 Strikeouts
Waldichuk has a pretty modest stat projection here at 5.0 strikeouts. He’s gone for at least five Ks in six of his last seven games. Some of those would be a push, but you’re getting at least that out of him here.
You can feel good about the projection with the White Sox standing across from him. They’ve struck out a ridiculous 13.67 times per game over their last three, including a 17 strikeout performance last night. Waldichuk should get to that five and do so quickly.
Adley Rutschman – Higher than 0.5 Singles
Rutschman has ten hits in his last six games, with seven of them being singles. Additionally, he’s has great success against Toronto starter Jose Barrios. In 13 career at bats against the Blue Jays starter, he has eight hits and a 1.000 slugging percentage. My only worry about him not hitting this projection is if he just hits too many extra-base hits.
