2023 NFL Best Ball Draft 5.0 + Free Agency Reaction
The guys (@GamblingPodcast) do their latest NFL best ball draft plus give their free agency reactions to the latest NFL signings.
Right now, is one of the few weeks where it is hard to pay attention to the NFL, with March Madness being such an exciting tournament. Still, its always great to get a best ball draft in, with 5.0 happening in this episode. Recent free agency news in the NFL will also be a topic of discussion.
Drafting quarterbacks early is tough in Best Ball, as if they don’t have a significant running compliment on top of their passing ability, it is tough to warrant taking them early. Running backs are also a position that has become in question at the top of the draft. Wide receivers have officially assumed the major portion of the first round. This is good because it allows you to still get legit running back value in round 5 or later.
The Patriots have recently made some noise in the news around free agency. There are rumors that Deandre Hopkins will end up in New England and give Mac Jones a big-time receiving threat. They also just recently got tight end Mike Gesicki, which was an interesting signing as he doesn’t block too well, which Belichick values greatly. Samaje Perine signing with the Broncos made them a talking point as it will be interesting how they get creative with him as you can imagine Sean Payton might try to use him in an Alvin Kamara role. If Javonte Williams doesn’t come back a full 100%, Perine can get a very solid workload.
Darren Waller coming to the Giants is also big news as they essentially traded Kadarius Toney and a 6th round pick for him. He has been an elite tight end when healthy and provides some spice to Daniel Jones’s receiving core. Injuries though could derail him and make this a bad move, yet time shall tell. Another wild situation in relation to the Giants is Odell Beckham Jr. He reportedly wanted 20 million dollars but said on Twitter this was not true, but $4 million wasn’t enough. The Giants offered him this number during the season. Aaron Rodgers also reportedly asked for the Jets to go after OBJ as well.
There are a number of former stars where there is a question of where they end up, or if they will play. Some of these names are Kenny Golladay, Ezekiel Elliott, and Leonard Fournette. Imaging a season without these guys is hard and probably unlikely.
